Domain registration and website hosting are separate. You do not need to transfer your domain to use Astra hosting. When your package is available to order, choose a domain you own. After activation, check hosting status in your dashboard for its website IP and preserve existing mail records unless you are moving mail.
Option A: change nameservers
Simplest if we should manage all DNS for the domain. At your current registrar, use the reseller nameservers confirmed by Astra support or your hosting control panel. Email and other records will need to be recreated with us first.
Option B: keep your DNS, add records
- 1Add an A record for the root (@) pointing at the address shown on your website page.
- 2Add the www record exactly as specified by your hosting provider; its target may differ from your root domain.
- 3Leave existing MX and TXT records alone so email keeps working.
- 4Cached records remain visible until their TTL expires. Test the root domain, www, HTTPS and email after the change.
